A head butts (gently!)... I think it's a show of affection. Think Coneheads, not that crazy soccer player.
Anyway, he does it to M and I all the time. The other day, he did it to Mitten--so cute! And he met a new friend yesterday and did it to her.

Oh, so cute! I know exactly what you are talking about. W has been doing that to Oreo (they have loving moments!) and also to his brothers! D has started doing it, too. Actually just this morning I gave it a whirl with D...I placed my head on his shoulder and he put his head on mine (like he does with W). SO CUTE!!! They are so close to one, can you believe it? Our boys are "SO BIG!"
